What we collect
Nothing. The extension contains no analytics, no tracking, no advertising SDKs, and does not transmit any personal data to HearLingo developers.
What data leaves your device, and where
When you use HearLingo, video subtitle text is processed as follows:

Local storage
Settings and caches are stored locally on your device. Remove everything by uninstalling the extension and deleting the companion app data folder.
Companion app (Windows / macOS)
The optional companion app runs a local service on 127.0.0.1 (your machine only). It bundles the OCR engine and performs speech synthesis and translation requests on behalf of the extension.
Service accuracy and third-party services
HearLingo is an assistive tool. Speech recognition, machine translation, and speech synthesis are performed by third-party services and local models. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, or wrong, and their output is provided for reference only — it is not professional translation and should not be relied upon for legal, medical, financial, or other consequential decisions.
The free endpoints and models used by HearLingo are operated by third parties. Their availability, rate limits, response quality, and continued existence are outside HearLingo's control and may change or be discontinued at any time without notice. HearLingo is not affiliated with these providers.
Reading timeliness also depends on your network connection, third-party service response speed, and your computer's performance.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, HearLingo's developers are not liable for errors, omissions, service interruptions, or any damages arising from reliance on the translated or synthesized output.
Children's privacy
HearLingo does not knowingly collect any data from any user, including children under 13.
